What to Expect

Sessions

 

I offer a free 15-minute consultation phone call at point of initial enquiry, before any commitment to sessions, where we can meet each other in order to discuss working together. This could be online if you prefer.

​

Thereafter each counselling session lasts for 50 minutes. In the first session, we will assess your needs and agree on goals for therapy.​ Therapy is open-ended - the number of sessions depends on your needs.

 

Sessions can be in-person, online or via telephone. In-person sessions are conducted from a therapy room in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.

If you are a parent/carer seeking counselling for your child, this is best conducted in-person, although online counselling is possible for young people - this would be discussed on an individual basis and I work with you to find an arrangement that works best for you and your family member. Cost of appointment

​

The cost of an individual session is £50.

I can offer a sliding scale approach to online sessions. If you have affordability concerns a concessionary rate can be arranged, please get in touch.  A limited number of concessionary online sessions are available for students, unemployed and OAPs, on request.

Confidentiality

 

All sessions are confidential. All notes are securely stored. There are, however, boundaries and limits to confidentiality and this will be discussed in the first session and included in the contract. All counsellors have supervision as a part of their practice, which is a requirement by their professional body. As part of the conditions of membership, all counsellors adhere to their professional body's Ethical Framework.

Cancellation policy

​

If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, at least 48 hours notice before your scheduled session is required. If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the full session fee is charged.
